How to Fix an Error Application Photos (Invalid Value for Registry)

Friday, March 1, 2019

Have you ever experienced a situation where your image files, including JPG, PNG or Bitmap, suddenly can't be opened using the default viewer of Windows 10, Photos. When trying to open it, you get an error message Invalid value for registry?

Photos Apps, Invalid Value for Registry

This means an error occurred in your Photos application. Of course this event is quite frustrating because on most Windows 10-based PCs/laptops, Photos app is the default application that is relied upon to open photos and images. Then how to overcome this problem, very easy!

First, you need to go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features and then look for the Photos application (You can use the Search in this list column provided). But in many cases, usually the Photos application cannot be accessed this way because it is indeed an error. If you can access it, then you can just click on the Photos application to open Advanced Options.

Advanced Options Photos Apps

But if this method doesn't work because you failed to find Photos, then you need to try the second alternative.

An alternative way is to type Photos in the Search Bar or Cortana Windows 10. Right-click on the Photos application, and you will find the App settings option with the gear icon.

From here you will be able to enter the Microsoft Photos settings. Scroll down to find the Reset option. Click the Repair button, and when done, click the Reset button. The process will be completed if a check mark appears on the two options.

After doing this procedure, you can open the image file from the Photos app again. It's easy right?
